BMBA acheives highest grade ranking at Dandenong.
The BMBA Under 14 boys have had to endure a particularly tough grading phase for the Dandenong Basketball Association (DBA) Winter season. One reason is that the team decided to challenge for the DBA’s elite A-grade competition, and while we struggled through this grading phase, we proved our competitiveness at this level.
The boys have yet to win a game, but have demonstrated they could ultimately win at this higher level. Having started in A grade, the boys have finished in the still-very-good level B2 competition at Dandenong, which is actually the highest grade a BMBA team has achieved in these very tough Dandenong competitions.
More importantly, our boys have demonstrated that with enough improvement in a few areas, both individually and as a team, we will begin winning games at this level, even in the A-grade competition where we were very competitive. This is a fine achievement by these boys, most of whom have started with the BMBA in the past twelve months and with five of the eight boys being bottom-age players. That means the majority of the boys now have two years of competition in these higher grades, which will be great for their development.
Despite this achievement, the boys won’t be satisfied until they not only make the elite A-grade competition but are more than capable of winning at that level. Their next attempt will be at the start of Term 4 this year, which is only ten to twelve weeks away.
The boys now need to concentrate on their games in the B2 grade, which starts this week and will play an important part in their development and improvement so they can rise in the grades.
