BMBA Basketball Academy | Junior Basketball Training Melbourne
In term one, we have started appointing trainee coaches and referees through our Friday night training and games programs. All of our coaches are required to be referees as well. This term, we have had four secondary college-aged boys start their journey to become both coaches and referees for the BMBA. I’m pleased to say that both our parents and our junior participants have been overwhelmingly positive and supportive in this endeavour, an endeavour that is vitally important as we continue to look to grow our wonderful basketball programs, our club and now our Association. Our training for the boys, and future coaches and referees, is both innovative, unique and supervised.
Unique in that we pay our referees and coaches from their first sessions, unlike other Associations. We also conduct our training on-site and online, saving our trainess costs and time while also providing them the flexibility to do their training from home when time allows. No other Association trains their coaches or referees in this manner.
Our four young coaches/referees now not only enjoy helping youngsters with their basketball, but they also enjoy having their accounts credited with their pay for doing so. As we grow, we will continue to need to recruit people for both referee and coaching roles. These roles are ideally suited to secondary college and university students looking for some extra dollars. Basketball experience is preferred but not compulsory; a lot of energy and enthusiasm is just as important.
If you know anybody who would be interested in becoming a referee/coach, have them scan the QR Codes below where they can find our contact details to begin their journey.
