THE BMBA INVITATIONAL
DOMESTIC COMPETITIONS
NEW & EXCITING OPPORTUNTIES FOR DOMESTIC CLUBS & TEAMS

The BMBA invitational will be an exciting new junior basketball competition format that has an entire focus on player and team development. Initially our goal is to form six team competitions in each age group. Those competitions to begin with will be played across a school term. The intention is to grow this across a two terma to allow more teams to enter as time progresses.

So we will look to start with six teams playing each other in a round-robin format where every team plays each other at least once. While these games will have a scoreboard and a team that wins and a team that loses, no ladders will be kept. The entire purpose of these lead-up round-robin games is the development of players. We want coaches to be focused on development and not winning.

In this format having your players try something new in game conditions whether it be a new dribble, a shot attempt or running a play will not impact on your team whether you win or lose.

Instead, coaches will be encouraged to use these games to develop and educate their players for an end of term round robin tournament, where over two weekends the same teams will play in competitive games where ladders will be kept and the top two teams will play off in a grand final to crown that term/season champions.

Ultimately, our preference is for a two-term season proper commencing in term three of 2025, where teams will play each other across fifteen rounds and then participate in an end-of-season round-robin tournament.

BMBA Invitational –  Domestic Division

We are determined to provide games and competitions that provide new, unique and exciting feature offered through the BMBA invitational to all players of all standards under the BMBA banner . Domestic division of competition will be made available to teams not confident enough or not ready to enter either of our Superball Domestic competitions or Central Districts representative ones.

The domestic division of the BMBA Invitational will still provide longer game times, shot clocks and a development focus with
unique competition formats, The features of this competition will not be replicated or offered through any other domestic competition, so no matter what BMBA competitions your team/players participate in, they will enjoy a superior game product compared to any other Association.
