The event will be held at the function rooms at the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron, 1 Pelican Quays, Beaumaris. The night will star at 7:00 pm and end at midnight. We will also be announcing and making awards in recognition of former players of Bob’s who either achieved outstanding results with their basketball under Bob or went on to achieve outstanding results So for a great night with some great stories, familiar faces, lots of laughs and possibly a few tears.

The cost of the night will be $150.00 per person. The night will be a cocktail event with nine pieces of delicious food being delivered to guests throughout the night. Next year marks the 35th year since Bob Mann started coaching basketball way back in 1990. Since then Bob has

♦  Founded and built two Associations.

♦  Founded and built five domestic clubs.

♦  Founded and built a Basketball academy.

♦  Founded and built five domestic clubs.

♦  Built two rep programs from absolutely nothing to VC programs.

♦  Personally coached junior teams into Victorian Championships on

    sixteen occasions.

♦  Three times he managed to have two junior teams qualify for

Victorian Championships in the same year.

♦  Had several of his players earn awards and recognition at elite levels.

♦  Coached BIG V Men’s rep teams at four different Associations.

♦  Has seen four former juniors go on to play in the NBL.

♦  Three former juniors were selected for State and Australian

     teams.

♦  Has seen several other players go on to play NBL1 and BIG V State

    Championship.

♦  Has even had former players go on to play in the AFL, with one

    winning a Premiership.

Bob has literally coached thousands of kids through, domestic competitions, Rep Competitions, School competitions, his BMBA academy, school clinics and introduction and development training.

Amongst all of this coaching are wonderful stories and relationships, many are funny, many are about success, some are sad, and all are worth telling and that’s what this night will all be about. Reminiscing about great moments in a 35-year sports journey that has touched so many people.

Also on this night

Bob is working to rebuild the Oakleigh Basketball Association which was tragically brought down as a representative Association back in 2016 despite six years of outstanding success. To achieve this, Bob and crew have to build new competitions at their new home at Stonnington Sports Centre, while potentially also having to consider legal action to gain Oakleigh Basketball Victoria affiliation once again, none of which is cheap. All this to have Bob Mann Juniors back on the hardwood and playing representative basketball at the highest levels once again.

We will also be providing 50% of the funds raised from this tonight to a cause close to Bob’s heart. Throughout Bob’s life five people who Bob has considered good friends have taken their own lives, all of them way too young. So Bob wants 50% of proceeds from this year’s reunion to go towards mental safety and he is looking to conduct annual events through past and present players, associates and representatives from the community. This was an inspiration given to Bob by former AFL coach who brought his former players back once a year for an annual breakfast to raise funds for charity, Bob would like to achieve something similar from this event onwards.

So on this night, we will be

♦  Naming BMJ All-star teams

♦  Conducting fund-raising activities for the BMBA and OBA

♦  Conducting fund-raising activities for Male Mental Health

♦  Guest Speakers with some of their stories of experiences of playing under Bob

♦  The night will be a cocktail night as this allows everybody to mingle and socialize.

So get along for what is going to be a stellar night with many familiar faces, some new ones, lots of stories, activities, laughter and reminiscing about good times as we look to create even more. All while raising funds for good causes.
