The domestic competitions at the Dandenong Basketball Association are our first preference for a domestic competitions for BMBA Teams. We will entere teams into their competitions until we are ready to launch our first competitions at Stonnington Sports Centre.

The reasons for this are:

  • Their main venue on Stud Road is the largest in Melbourne and easily accessed from the Monash Freeway. It has been long established and has massive car parking capacity.
  • With fifteen courts under one roof, our teams will predominately be playing at the same venue week in and week out which is a big positive. Their Satellite courts are all located nearby to the DBA’s main stadium.
  • The Dandenong Basketball Association has some of the largest domestic competitions that allow us to enter and grade teams into appropriate levels of competition.
  • The grading process is an in depth one and the standard of competition is excellent.
  • The Associations administration is also excellent and their referee branch is the best I’ve seen. It’s well organised, well staffed and professional.

The competition seasons at the Southern Basketball Association are an Winter Season and a Summer Season.

Their Winter season covers Term 2 and Term 3 of the School year, while their Summer Season covers Term 4 and Term 1 of the following school year.

Both seasons run for about 15 rounds plus finals. The first three to five games of the  season are used for grading before match points and ladders begin to be accumulated and compiled.

We want to increase the number of teams that we enter into DBA competitions with each season that passes, so we are ready, willing and able to welcome new players and even new teams into the BMBA.

Currently, the Association plays their competitions out of several venues.

These are:-

Dandenong Basketball Stadium, 270 Stud Road, Dandenong.

Lyndale SC, Gladstone Road, Dandenong North.

Dandenong High School, David St, Dandenong.

Springers Leisure Centre, Cheltenham Road, Keysborough

There are several costs, as there are at most Associations:-

PlayHQ/BV Registration Fee:

You pay this fee when you register at the commencement of every season. This comprises a fee to register with the Association and Basketball Victoria. Currently, this fee sits between $35.00 and $40.00

Weekly Match Fees:

Every time we play a game, the Association charges us a match fee for those games. The BMBA invoices you for a season which covers these fees. We are then invoiced by the Dandenong Basketball Association for those match fees. This current season these costs were $99.50 per match.

PLEASE NOTE NONE OF THESE ARE BMBA FEES. They are all Southern Basketball Association fees that we need to cover to enter and play in their competitions.
