Our U16 BMBA Warrior boys have experienced some hardships over the years, with training outdoors in the elements, injuries, player fluctuations and varying results in their domestic competitions.
Throughout it all, they have approached it with a great attitude and work ethic. Despite these challenges they did so well last season that they were promoted to the A grade division in the Southern Basketball Association’s domestic competition.
Most teams in this competition have multiple rep players and players with height size and athleticism. Our boys unfortunately don’t have a lot of that, so this season has been a struggle, but at the same time an important one in their development. Despite having limited numbers all season (refer to our article below), our boys have acquitted themselves well and have been competitive throughout this A grade season.
So it was great to reward these boys last week with their first training run at St Michaels Grammar where they could enjoy a high-standard training facility, where they didn’t have to worry about strong winds affecting their shots, what the weather was going to do, the light getting too dark and whether they had to fight with others to access those outdoor courts.
Instead, the boys not only were indoors out of the weather elements and with all the lighting they needed, but they also enjoyed a blue-tooth connection to the coach’s mobile to have some soothing music in the background as they trained.
There is no more deserving group of boys for this reward. Enjoy your new training home fellas.
