Coaching Excellence

Our coaches will ensure that your son/daughter is given the best start possible in their basketball journey. They will be taught basic skills and rules of the game in a non-pressure, fun environment.

Lots of games
and fun

As we introduce the kids to skills we put in place games related to those skills so they can have some fun and be introduced to competitive formats..

"Strength, Honour and Unity"

The BMBA way!

At the BMBA our Latin motto in our logo above is “Fortitudo, Honor, Unitas” which means “Strength, Honour, Unity”. That motto is at the core of everything that we do both on and off the court.

Skill Improvement

Every BMBA Kids First participant will guided through a step-by-step skills development program that will provide them with the basic fundamental skills in dribbling, passing and shooting.

Assessment & Progression

Once each participant has completed a term an assessment will be made on how they should progress. We have three levels that they can progress through until they are ready to join a team and play in competitions.

BMBA  Founder

Meet Bob Mann: BMBA Founder & Head Coach

Bob started coaching basketball in 1990 to get five boys out of his backyard, which they had begun using as their local scrimmage court.

Since then, Bob has coached at every level, from absolute beginners to paid professionals, and has achieved outstanding success at developing incredible individual players and building local teams that punch well above their weight.

Bob’s teams have gone on to reach the highest levels of the sport in the toughest States in Australia—the state of Victoria and its capital, the City of Melbourne, more particularly.

Bob is now committed to using his guidance, knowledge, and ability to develop player skills and the great teams that accompany them.

Make your son/daughter another prodigee for Bob to mentor to a high level.

What is the programs focus?
Our Kids First basketball program focuses entirely on building both your child's basic skills and knowledge. We do this by providing quality coaching and training sessions your child would not experience elsewhere.
How do you acheive this?
The BMBA has a structured program that takes your child through several different levels for each skill.

We ensure your child learns those skills in a fun, non-pressured environment that makes learning enjoyable.

As they learn they progress through our various levels in the program to ensure your child builds confidence as they progress.
How many sessions a week?
The program provides one 60 minute session per week, which are conducted mid-week and on weekends.
Who can enrol?
The program caters for players who are looking to start in the sport or are looking to develop skills they don't currently learn in their current teams.
The program is designed for juniors aged between 5 and 10 though exceptions can be made for 11 and 12 year olds who haven't played before.
How are lessons structured?
Each session has a maximum of ten juniors per coach. Sessions run for 60 minutes and are a combination of skill development and take participants through a progressive plan to ensure they develop skills, knowledge and confidence.
How is progress assessed?
As each term comes to a conclusion each participant will have learned and developed through our progressive plans for each skill level and each stage of development, they are then assessed on that progress at the end of each term by their coaches. From that assessment we will decide whether to leave in the stage they are currently in or progress them onto the next stage or actual competition in a BMBA team

This gives our sessions real purpose and builds confidence within our participants.
