The Margaret Connellan Stadium is a state-of-the-art, 4-court stadium that just opened in 2023. It is located within the Stonnington Sports Centre which is an impressive facility that includes:
♦ A lawn bowls club above the car parking.
♦ Tennis courts next to the lawn bowls field.
♦ A sporting oval which is home to soccer, Lacrosse and cricket clubs.
♦ Impressive change room and toilet facilities covered car parking.
♦ An outstanding location.
The successful acquisition of court space at this magnificent stadium is a significant coup for the BMBA as it gives it a wonderful venue to build teams and its own competitions. Not only this, but the BMBA has also reached an agreement to be able to build its court spaces as its competitions grow moving forward.
We look forward to grasping the opportunities that this venue will present us.
To enter the Margaret Connellan Stadium enter via this main entrance which is conveniently located next to the covered parking. There is also plenty of uncovered parking. It should be noted that their is a strict two-hour limit on car parking before you incur a parking fee. This is to ensure people don’t use the stadium car parking as alternative for parking for Chadstone Shopping Centre which is just a short distance from the stadium.
This is frown upon by council.
As you can see from the picture on the right, the entrance has an amazing outdoor landscape and social area, especially in the summer, the entrance doors are automatic and the Parcy Trevaud oval and walking track is located directly opposite the stadium.
Once you enter the stadium you have the stadium reception directly in front of you. To your left there is a wonderful Cafe area that will be popular with parents who can grab a coffee and a bite to eat eat as they enjoy the big screens or plug in their various devices to do some work or catch up on social media.
In the summer there is also an outdoor Cafe area with seating and outdoor tents which also at times has BBQ’s on the go. We have no doubt that this will be a popular area for many parents and players alike.
After you enter the sports centre entrance, you walk up the hallway and enter the actual stadium and you will see the magnificent four-court venue seen in the picture on the right. The main court is the furthest one from the entrance and enjoys established seating.
All courts also enjoy portable seating and all courts can be used for netball, basketball and volleyball. The flooring is ideal for indoor sports with limited line-marking and plenty of give for growing bodies. As you can see in the picture the venue also has ceiling fans to accommodate for hotter days.
A unique feature is the glass wall on the oval side, which allows you to watch other sports such as cricket and soccer in action.
Each court has fantastic flooring, and limited line marking and enjoys the wonderful ringleader backboard and ring systems.
These are the best backboard/ring systems in the business and all players enjoy playing with them. They have superior glass backboards, springloaded rims and amazing nets which the kids love to play on. As you can see in the photo all courts are clearly marked with their actual court number which makes things easier for both players and parents.
Finally, all courts enjoy large and visible shot clocks attached to the top of each backboard and brilliantly located scoreboards. Our BMBA juniors will have plenty of fun playing and training on these courts.
The stadium is located a short walking distance from both Chadstone Shopping Centre and Parcy Trevaud Park. This gives families plenty of activities to enjoy before and after matches. Shopping, eateries, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and cinemas are on offer via Chadstone Shopping Centre.
For those searching for a less noisy activity Percy Trevaud Park, located directly next to the stadium, provides a beautiful landscape to have a walk, go for a run, walk your dog or just sit in the sun.
Also, just a short distance from the Stadium is a public library and a McDonalds restaurant.
PLEASE NOTE (1): It’s frowned upon by stadium staff that parking at the venue is used for these activities. They ask if you wish to use them to use the parking provided at those venues and walk to the stadium and not the other way around.
PLEASE NOTE(2): Children aged 12 and below need to be accompanied by a guardian who is an adult, children cannot just be dropped off and left to play. So please, if you are going to take advantage of these extra amenities please put some planning into it. Failure to do so may require us to take action against any offenders.
