Another one of the things we wish to provide for all of our BMBA players and teams is the opportunity to play junior representative basketball or as it’s commonly referred to “Rep Ball”.

Between 2010 and 2016 the Oakleigh Basketball Association’s junior and open-aged rep teams played at some of the highest levels of representative competition and won a number of division and tournament titles. In those six years we had six of our junior teams reach the State’s top division of competition in the Victorian Championships and three times they made the top ten in the state’s rankings. From this, in 2015 we had our first junior player make both the state and Australian teams. He has now gone on to play in the NBL. Many of our former players now also play in the elite NBL1 and BIG V open-age competitions. Sadly due to the actions of some nefarious individuals that all came to an end in 2016.

One of the purposes of the BMBA is to bring the Oakleigh Basketball Association not only back to its previous status but to an even greater level of basketball excellence. To achieve that we need to recruit people to sit on a committee for the Oakleigh Basketball Association. The good news is the BMBA will be doing all the work and taking on all the responsibility so the workload for any committee will be both light and straightforward but vitally important in creating pathways for BMBA juniors to have the opportunity to play at those higher levels.

If you would like to get involved or would like more information then please get in touch with me via my contact details below. Our first effort in this campaign is to conduct an AGM to have a committee elected.

The AGM will be held on Thursday, 1st of June commencing at 7:30 pm at the Oakleigh RSL Club, 95-97 Drummond Street Oakleigh. Further information will be available this week via the OBA website at http://oakleighbasketball.com.au/
